The Minister of Homeland Security and Technology, Ali Ihusaan, has commended the prison officers of the Maldives Correctional Service for their unwavering dedication and hard work.

Speaking at the graduation ceremony of participants from the Correctional Officers Training Programme, Minister Ihusaan highlighted the crucial role played by the officers in ensuring the smooth operation of the Correctional Service. He emphasised that the dedication and commitment of the officers have significantly strengthened the institution’s operations.

The Minister further noted that despite the limited recruitment of new personnel, the existing officers continue to shoulder extensive responsibilities, often going above and beyond their regular duties to maintain the effective management of the prisons. He lauded their willingness to dedicate substantial time and effort, ensuring the continued stability and functionality of the correctional facilities.

Minister Ihusaan noted that the correctional system in the Maldives maintains a commendable standard, comparing favourably with many other countries. He also pointed out the rarity of disciplinary cases involving Correctional Service officers, attributing this to the officers' integrity and professionalism.

In addition to Minister Ihusaan, several high-ranking officials attended the ceremony, including the Commissioner of Prisons, Hassan Zareer, Deputy Commissioner of Prisons, Ibrahim Mohamed Didi, as well as various Directors and Commissioned Officers of the Maldives Correctional Service.

The ceremony also included the administration of the official oath to the graduating officers, which was conducted by Maafushi Court Judge, Jinaan Ibrahim Latheef.
