Health Minister Abdulla Nazim Ibrahim has stated that political leaders in the Maldives have never before experienced such a level of independence in carrying out their political activities.

His remarks were made during a meeting of the ruling People's National Congress (PNC), held yesterday evening.

The Minister emphasised that President Dr Mohamed Muizzu assumed office with a clear vision to build a fully developed and self-reliant nation. He noted that the President is not a leader who engages in political vendettas, but rather one who upholds the principles of inclusivity and freedom within the political sphere.

According to the Minister, the current Administration has created an environment where all political parties and leaders are able to operate without interference. He observed that he had never before witnessed a political setting in which he and other leaders were afforded such freedom to perform their roles.

The Minister further highlighted the significance of allowing political figures to contribute independently to the process of nation-building. He noted that, since the establishment of the country’s multi-party system, the political climate had not previously reflected this degree of openness and comprehensive engagement.

Reflecting on the current political landscape, the Minister remarked that it differs markedly from that of the past. He observed that today, leaders from across the political spectrum are actively engaged in their respective activities without restrictions, attributing this to President Dr Muizzu’s commitment to safeguarding political independence.

The Minister reiterated that this level of political freedom is unprecedented in the nation’s recent history. He maintained that the President's overarching policy has been to ensure national peace and stability. According to the Minister, this approach has already resulted in the country becoming more peaceful and increasingly prosperous under President Dr Muizzu’s leadership.
