The Ministry of Fisheries and Ocean Resources of the Maldives, in collaboration with local dive centres, will host a Discover Dive event on June 21, 2025 at Hulhumalé Beach.

The event is scheduled to begin at 14:00hrs and is part of the official programme marking World Ocean Day 2025.

The initiative is aimed at children aged 8 to 15 years and will offer free introductory diving sessions. Organisers say the activity is designed to provide young participants with an opportunity to experience the underwater environment in a safe and controlled setting, while also raising awareness about marine conservation.

Participation is limited to 40 children, and registration will close on June 18,  2025. Certified dive instructors from local diving centres will conduct the sessions, ensuring safety and supervision throughout.

According to the Ministry, the event supports this year’s World Ocean Day theme, “Wonder: Sustaining What Sustains Us,” by encouraging early engagement with marine ecosystems.

The Discover Dive event will take place behind the Dhiraagu building on Hulhumalé Beach.
