The Maldives Police Service has issued Green Notices for individuals convicted of child sexual abuse who have been released into society.
This action follows the publication of the “Register of Child Sexual Offenders” by the Child and Family Protection Service, in accordance with Section 57 of the Special Procedures Against Child Sexual Offenders Act.
According to the list, the Maldives Police Service has issued Green Notices for 43 individuals through Interpol, including 25 Maldivians and 18 foreigners.
An Interpol Green Notice is a mechanism used to alert member states about individuals who may pose a threat to public safety, particularly due to their criminal records or suspected criminal activities.
Sharing information about convicted offenders with relevant authorities is crucial to protecting children. Interpol Green Notices help countries track such individuals, enforce safety measures, and screen them during employment, particularly in the case of migrant workers who may seek jobs abroad after committing offences.
