President Dr Mohamed Muizzu has emphasised the vital contributions of women in foreign policy and diplomacy, reaffirming the Maldives’ commitment to promoting inclusive leadership on the global stage.

Marking the International Day of Women in Diplomacy in a post on his official X account, the President highlighted the significance of the occasion, noting the Maldives was among the UN Member States that championed its adoption.

He described the day as a meaningful acknowledgement of the role women play in shaping the global diplomatic landscape and called for greater recognition of their efforts in foreign affairs.

President Dr Muizzu further underscored the Maldives’ ongoing support for gender equality and inclusive leadership, stating that honouring women in diplomacy also reinforces global efforts to break down systemic barriers to their participation.

He paid tribute to the resilience and courage of women who take their place at negotiating tables, walk the corridors of power, and raise their voices in spaces where they were once unheard.

President Dr Muizzu said he remains confident that women will continue to lead and shape a future where they are not only represented, but also respected, heard, and celebrated as essential contributors to global peace and progress.
