Minister Zameer holds talks with CDB on future financial cooperation

Minister of Finance and Planning Moosa Zameer has held discussions with senior officials of the China Development Bank (CDB) to explore avenues for enhanced financial cooperation and future assistance.

The meeting took place during Minister Zameer’s official visit to Beijing, where he is attending the tenth Annual Meeting of the Asian Infrastructure Investment Bank (AIIB).

In a post shared on X, Minister Zameer described the meeting with CDB as constructive and forward-looking.

He noted that discussions focused on the CDB’s key role in supporting housing and infrastructure projects in the Maldives, and explored potential areas for future collaboration to advance the country’s national development goals.

Minister Zameer was accompanied by Maldives Ambassador to China Dr Fazeel Najeeb, Deputy Minister of Finance and Planning Ahmed Saaidh Musthafa, Second Secretaries Ali Saajidh Shakir and Mizna Waheed, and Resource Mobilisation Analyst Rauha Ibrahim.

Representing the China Development Bank were Bai Xiyuan, Vice President of the International Financial Business Department; Li Yunzhi, General Manager of the Second International Cooperation Department; Jiang Catao, Deputy General Manager of the International Credit Department; and Ho Mengrui, Director of the Second Credit Management Division.

The AIIB’s tenth Annual Meeting is taking place at the China National Convention Centre 2 and will run until June 26. The meeting brings together representatives from AIIB member countries, partners, businesses, civil society organisations, media, and international experts.
