The Ministry of Dhivehi Language, Culture and Heritage has officially unveiled the logo commemorating the Maldives’ 60th Independence Day, to be celebrated on July 26.

The announcement was made on Wednesday night, revealing the winner of the national logo design competition, which concluded on June 15, 2025. In a statement, the Ministry congratulated the winning designer.

The competition was held with detailed guidelines outlining the thematic requirements for the logo. The design was expected to reflect Islam, the Dhivehi language, Maldivian culture, national identity, and the country’s sovereignty. It also needed to convey the significance of 60 years of independence, representing both the progress achieved over the past six decades and the nation's aspirations for continued development.

Participants were further instructed to incorporate either the national colours or shades of blue—symbolising the Maldives’ natural environment, particularly the ocean, which plays a central role in the country’s heritage.

The winning designer received a prize of MVR 30,000, and the selected logo will serve as the official emblem for this year’s Independence Day celebrations.
