Minister of Transport and Civil Aviation, Mohamed Ameen, has departed for Istanbul, Turkey, to attend the Global Transport Connectivity Forum 2025, which will take place from June 27 to 29, 2025.

This annual forum, organised this year by the Ministry of Transport and Infrastructure of Turkey, will bring together transport ministers, international organisations, financial institutions, private sector leaders, and experts from around the world to explore ways to enhance global transport networks and improve connectivity.

According to the Ministry of Transport, Minister Ameen will take part in a high-level panel discussion titled “Maritime Connectivity for Island and Coastal Nations: Shared Opportunities, Distinct Challenges.” The session will focus on the unique challenges faced by small island states in developing maritime transport links, as well as the shared opportunities and sustainable policy approaches needed to overcome these barriers.

This year’s forum will also address key themes such as sustainable development in the transport sector, environmentally friendly reforms, regional cooperation, and strategies to eliminate investment barriers. The event aims to strengthen collaboration between governments, international financial institutions, and private enterprises to build more integrated and efficient transport systems.

The previous edition of the forum was held in 2024 in Leipzig, Germany.
