An agreement has been signed between the Maldives Zakat House and the Ministry of Social and Family Development to establish a dedicated Empowerment Hub for people with disabilities.

The hub will be located on the first floor of Aman Udhares Tower 7, a property developed by Fahi Dhirulhun Corporation (FDC). It is intended to serve as a centre for skill development, religious education, and empowerment activities aimed at enhancing the quality of life and financial independence of people with disabilities, including children.

The Ministry of Social and Family Development initially sought assistance from the Zakat House to support the establishment of the hub. Following deliberations, the Zakat Council approved the initiative at a meeting held on 19 March this year. In line with that decision, the two institutions have now formalised the partnership with a 25-year agreement.

The agreement was signed by Sheikh Izzuddin Adnan, Director General of Zakat, on behalf of the Zakat House, and State Minister Ibrahim Ismail Ali on behalf of the Ministry of Social and Family Development.

According to the Ministry of Islamic Affairs, the Empowerment Hub reflects the growing need for services tailored to people with disabilities in the Maldives.

Established in 2023, the Maldives Zakat House has played a key role in streamlining Zakat operations and contributing to various social and community welfare initiatives.
