A 26-year-old motorcyclist has been arrested after allegedly fleeing the scene of a traffic accident involving two motorcycles and a car in Hulhumalé.

Police identified the suspect as Adam Janaan Mohamed, who was the driver of one of the two motorcycles involved in the incident.

The accident occurred on the evening of June 23 at the junction of Reethigas Magu and Kashimaa Hingun. A 38-year-old man riding the other motorcycle was injured in the collision and is currently receiving treatment at Treetop Hospital for multiple injuries, including fractures in three places on his leg.

Police confirmed that all three drivers involved in the crash held valid A-category road vehicle licences.

Janaan was arrested on June 26 under a court order and has been remanded in custody for seven days while police continue to investigate the case.
