The Bank of Maldives (BML) has clarified that Maldivians living abroad will continue to have access to a cash withdrawal limit of USD 750, despite recent changes to domestic withdrawal limits.

The update follows BML’s announcement on Monday that it is reducing the monthly ATM cash withdrawal limit for local customers from USD 250 to USD 125.

According to BML, customers residing overseas can register through the Foreign Limit Portal on the bank’s website and select their preferred MVR debit card to access the USD 750 limit. This amount can be used for both point-of-sale (POS) transactions and ATM withdrawals in their country of residence.

The bank also confirmed that students living abroad are not affected by the new restrictions and will continue to have a withdrawal limit of USD 1,200, with no changes to the applicable fees.

Students overseas can similarly use the Foreign Limit Portal to register and manage their debit card limits.
