Maldives Police Service (MPS) has launched a search for a man reported missing in Malé City, after his family raised the alarm nearly a week after he was last seen.

The missing individual has been identified as Saamy AbdulHameed, 34, from Fuvahmulah City. According to police, his family filed a missing person report on July 2, 2025 at 06:16 p.m., stating that they had not received any information about his whereabouts since June 25.

Following the report, police initiated a city-wide search and shared the information with relevant units. However, efforts to locate him have so far been unsuccessful.

The public is being urged to assist in the search. Authorities have asked anyone with information about the missing man to contact Galolhu Police Station at 9790092 or call the police hotline at 3322111.
