The Ministry of Higher Education, Labour and Skills Development has opened applications for the President’s Special Scholarship and the High Achievers Scholarship.

These scholarships aim to support academically gifted students who completed their higher secondary education in schools across the country during the previous academic year.

The President’s Special Scholarship is open to students who have obtained an ‘A*’ grade in five subjects, including Dhivehi and Islamic Studies, in their Higher Secondary or A-Level examinations. Applicants must also have passed the O-Level English examination or an equivalent.

The High Achievers Scholarship requires students to have achieved an ‘A’ grade in five subjects, again including Dhivehi and Islam, and to have passed O-Level English or its equivalent.

The Ministry stated that eligible students can submit their applications via the official website, where further details and the application form are available.

With regard to the fields of study, the Ministry clarified that recipients of the High Achievers Scholarship will be eligible to enrol in designated priority disciplines, as outlined on the Ministry’s website. In contrast, those awarded the President’s Special Scholarship will have the flexibility to pursue undergraduate studies in any field of their choosing.

Both scholarships are applicable exclusively to first-degree programmes. The Government will bear all expenses associated with the completion of the degree, ensuring that financial constraints do not hinder academic advancement.

All applications must be submitted through the MyEdu portal by September 30, 2026.
