The case was reported to police on Wednesday, involving allegations that a man was being unlawfully detained and subjected to torture. Officers located the individual on Thursday and rescued him during the investigation.
The suspect, identified as Ibrahim Saeed, 48, from Feydhoo in Addu City, was brought before the Criminal Court for a remand hearing. The court ordered that he be detained until the trial concludes.
The victim, a 44-year-old Maldivian man, has been taken to Indira Gandhi Memorial Hospital (IGMH) for treatment. His current condition has not been disclosed.
Police said the investigation remains ongoing.
