Over 5,900 containers cleared by MPL during June operations

Maldives Ports Limited (MPL) has reported steady cargo operations throughout the month of June, during which 15 container vessels docked at its port, facilitating the processing of a total of 5,940 containers.

The latest figures indicate that the port received 17 conventional vessels in addition to the 15 container ships. These shipments comprised 2,334 containers of 20-foot length and 1,798 containers of 40-foot length.

Among the goods processed, perishable food items remained prominent. MPL’s statistics revealed that commonly cleared products included eggs, onions, carrots, garlic, tomatoes, cabbage, pineapples, bananas, and pumpkins. Specific quantities handled included 53 tonnes of eggs, 35 tonnes of onions, 30 tonnes of carrots, 20 tonnes of potatoes, and 14 tonnes of tomatoes. The port also processed 11 tonnes of cabbage, nine tonnes each of pineapples and bananas, three tonnes of pumpkins, along with four tonnes of other assorted food items.

 MPL has expanded its services by introducing sea-air cargo.The company has also maintained its focus on staff development.  MPL continues to offer a variety of courses and training programmes aimed at enhancing both education and professional growth among its workforce.
