President Dr Mohamed Muizzu has revised the administrative boundary of Maafaru, officially excluding Farumuli from its administration. The change was enacted through a Presidential Decree.

Farumuli, together with Kan’dinmahuraa, had earlier been placed under Maafaru’s administration. This latest decision reverses that inclusion, separating Farumuli from Maafaru’s oversight.

Officials indicated that the change was made to support tourism development on Farumuli. The island has now been designated for tourism purposes in accordance with national policy on tourism planning and development.

As a result of the revision, the annex outlining the Establishing Inhabited Islands of the Maldives has been updated. The revised document has been published in the Government Gazette, reflecting the latest administrative change.
