The Maldives Airports Company Limited (MACL) has firmly rejected allegations made by Raajje TV that the opening ceremony of the new terminal at Velana International Airport was handed over to an Israeli-funded company.
The statement follows a video posted by Raajje TV on social media on July 7, which MACL described as false and misleading.
Raajje TV has falsely claimed that the company Banana Split was awarded a USD 5 million contract to manage the opening ceremony of Velana International Airport’s new terminal.
In its official response, MACL clarified that it is a fully state-owned Maldivian company and reiterated its commitment to national values and public sentiment. The company emphasised that it has no partnerships, affiliations, or agreements with any company linked to Israel.
MACL condemned Raajje TV’s reporting, calling the video entirely fabricated, and urged the media to adhere to principles of responsible and ethical journalism.
In light of the repeated claims by Raajje TV, MACL stated that it is exploring legal options and is preparing to file a formal complaint with the Maldives Broadcasting Commission, seeking regulatory action against the media outlet.
