The Maldives Police Service has confirmed that its Professional Standards Command (PSD) is investigating allegations involving multiple officers at the Shaviyani Milandhoo Police Station, accused of misappropriating food allowance funds.

According to Police, the case involves officers allegedly diverting food allowance payments into their personal bank accounts, in collaboration with a third-party meal provider.

The investigation was officially acknowledged on Tuesday night, though no further details, such as the number of officers implicated or the total amount involved, have been disclosed at this stage.

Police meals are typically arranged through a centralised tendering system, rather than issuing direct food allowances to individual officers.

One officer reportedly under investigation has been transferred to Malé City as part of the inquiry.
