The Maldives Meteorological Service has forecast heavy rainfall across much of the country tonight and tomorrow, with thunderstorms and strong winds expected to impact several regions.

A white alert has been issued from Thaa Atoll to Addu City, cautioning the public about adverse weather conditions, including gusty winds reaching up to 40 miles per hour. The alert remains in effect until 05:30 a.m.

According to the forecast, light to moderate rain and isolated thundershowers are likely across the country over the next 24 hours. Wind speeds are expected to range between 5–15 km/h, with gusts reaching up to 35 miles per hour, particularly in southern and central atolls.

The southernmost regions have already begun experiencing significant rainfall, with Fuvahmulah recording 41.0 mm of rain in the last 24 hours, the highest in the country during the period. Although seas are forecast to remain generally calm, cloudy conditions and squalls may lead to periods of rough weather.

The Meteorological Service has advised seafarers, island travellers, and the general public to remain cautious and follow weather updates closely, especially as the adverse conditions may persist through the weekend. Weather is expected to gradually improve from Sunday onwards.
