The Republic of Maldives and the Commonwealth of Dominica have signed a visa-waiver agreement, allowing citizens of both countries to travel visa-free for stays of up to 30 days.

The Agreement on the Mutual Exemption of Visa Requirements was signed in New York at the Permanent Mission of the Maldives to the United Nations.

Dr Ali Naseer Mohamed, the Maldives’ Permanent Representative to the UN, signed on behalf of the Maldivian government, while Philbert Aaron, Dominica’s Permanent Representative, signed on behalf of the Government of Dominica.

The agreement is a significant milestone in strengthening bilateral ties and is expected to pave the way for greater engagement and increased people-to-people exchanges between the two island nations.

Officials from both sides expressed hope that the arrangement would facilitate travel, enhance mutual understanding, and foster closer cooperation going forward.
