A 35-year-old Maldivian man who was reported missing after going out in a canoe has been found safe and in good condition, police confirmed on Thursday.

According to the Maldives Police Service, the man, an employee of a resort operating in Raa Atoll, had gone out in a canoe earlier in the day and was later reported missing by the resort. Search efforts were immediately launched in coordination with nearby resorts and police teams.

Authorities later confirmed that the man had made his way to Raa Dhuvaafaru and was unharmed.

Meanwhile, a separate search operation remains underway for a 75-year-old Maldivian man who went missing after travelling in a dinghy from Gaafu Dhaalu Gadhdhoo to a nearby sandbank, Gan.

Police have yet to release further updates regarding the elderly man’s whereabouts.
