Renowned Maldivian biomedical research scientist Dr Ibrahim Mustafa has passed away in India while receiving treatment for a long-term illness.

Dr Mustafa was a prominent figure in the country’s scientific and medical community, recognised for his significant contributions to healthcare research and development.n 2012, Dr Musthafa was awarded the National Award for Special Achievement, recognising his significant contributions to science and education in the Maldives.

President Dr Mohamed Muizzu expressed his condolences on social media, paying tribute to Dr Mustafa’s legacy and service to the nation. Further information on funeral arrangements has not yet been announced.
