The Chinese Ambassador to the Maldives, Kong Xianhua, has praised Maldivian journalist Mariyam Milzam Masood for her efforts in promoting Chinese culture following her recent participation in a regional media programme in China.

Milzam, a journalist from MMTV, took part in the “Visiting the Co-Zone of the Silk Road Economic Belt” initiative from June 30 to July 8. The programme brought together journalists from 24 countries to explore key regions along China’s Belt and Road Initiative and foster international media cooperation.

During a meeting held at the Chinese Embassy in Malé on July 10, Ambassador Xianhua commended Milzam for the video content she produced during the visit, noting that her work had attracted positive attention online. He thanked her for helping introduce aspects of Chinese culture to Maldivian audiences and highlighted the importance of such exchanges in deepening bilateral understanding.

The Ambassador further noted the enthusiasm among Maldivians for cultural exchange and reaffirmed China’s commitment to strengthening people-to-people ties between the two countries.
