The Institute of Chartered Accountants of the Maldives (CA Maldives) has introduced its first-ever Auditors Forum, an initiative aimed at strengthening the country’s auditing sector and fostering dialogue on professional standards and practices.

Organised as a dedicated platform for professionals in the auditing field, the forum was inaugurated by former Auditor General Hassan Ziyath. Discussions focus on common industry practices, current challenges, and the application of International Standards on Auditing (ISAs).

Speaking at the opening ceremony, CA Maldives President Mohamed Haleem Abdulla said the forum had drawn more interest than anticipated, highlighting strong demand within the sector for a specialised platform.

“The level of interest in this forum exceeded our expectations. We received more participation requests than we could accommodate. The overwhelming interest shows that our auditors have long needed a dedicated space to discuss issues specific to the field,” he said.

Haleem explained that CA Maldives decided to launch a separate forum from its previous International Financial Reporting Standards (IFRS)-focused event to provide more targeted discussions around audit-related matters.

The Auditors Forum is one of five major events CA Maldives plans this year, alongside the Tax Forum, the CFO Forum, the IFRS Forum, and the flagship Maldives Accountants Forum.

CA Maldives is mandated under the Maldives Chartered Accountants Act and the Regulation for Statutory Audit and Assurance Services to oversee audit quality and conduct quality assurance reviews across the profession.
