Fuvahmulah Hospital is scheduled to launch CT scan services by the end of this month, in a move aimed at enhancing diagnostic healthcare services in the southern city.

The Ministry of Health has confirmed that the installation of the CT scan machine is currently underway, carried out by biomedical engineers from the Ministry and the State Trading Organisation (STO), with technical support from the equipment’s manufacturer.

The CT scan project at Fuvahmulah Hospital began in May 2023. To facilitate the installation, Econ Maldives Private Limited was contracted to carry out necessary renovations to the hospital building. The project, valued at over MVR 2.09 million, includes structural modifications to accommodate the new diagnostic facility.

The hospital has also begun preparing for the operational phase of the service by training staff and hiring additional personnel. Hospital officials noted that CT scanning is among the most in-demand diagnostic services in Fuvahmulah, a city with a population of over 12,000. As part of these upgrades, a new hospital building has been developed to address spatial limitations and expand the range of healthcare services provided on the island.
