Acting on a tip-off from counter-narcotics intelligence, police have confiscated suspected drugs from a vessel en route to Laamu Maamendhoo.

According to the Maldives Police Service, the operation was carried out on 31 July. Officers recovered 115 cellophane packets believed to contain narcotics during a search of the boat near Maamendhoo. The substances were found inside a box on board and had a total weight of around 82 grams.

The search was part of a joint effort between Counter Narcotics Intelligence and Maamendhoo Police. No arrests have been made at this stage.

Authorities have confirmed that investigations into the incident are ongoing.
