President Dr Mohamed Muizzu has officially inaugurated the Raajje Transport Link (RTL) ferry service in Baa Atoll, marking another step towards the Government’s goal of extending the service to every atoll in the Maldives.

The launch ceremony took place in Baa Eydhafushi on 11 August, where a large crowd gathered to welcome the President. Following a meet-and-greet with residents, President Dr Muizzu formally commenced the service, which offered free ferry travel within the atoll until 3 August to familiarise the public with the new system. Paid services began on 6 August, with tickets available through the RTL mobile application and website.

With the addition of Baa Atoll, RTL ferry operations now cover 11 atolls nationwide. The Government is working to roll out the service to the remaining atolls as part of efforts to improve connectivity, enhance mobility, and provide more affordable transport options across the archipelago.
