President Dr Mohamed Muizzu has extended heartfelt condolences to the family of Mohamed Umar Manik (MU Manik), acknowledging his remarkable role in pioneering the Maldives’ tourism industry.

The President, in a message shared on X, described MU Manik as a visionary who made commendable contributions in developing the nation’s tourism sector. 

He highlighted MU Manik’s hard work and pivotal role in shaping the Maldives into a world-class tourist destination.

In his message, President Dr Muizzu prayed for the late MU Manik to be granted eternal blessings of Paradise, and wished strength on his family in this difficult time.

At 78, MU Manik passed away this morning in Singapore. He is remembered as a pioneer who played a vital role in building the Maldives’ tourism industry.
