Fuvahmulah Airport has resumed operations after services were suspended on Tuesday due to a fire truck pipe burst.
The issue was resolved with the arrival of a replacement fire truck from Addu City.
Flights have now recommenced, with the national airline Maldivian scheduled to depart from the airport on Wednesday evening.
While flights were suspended, passengers were redirected to Addu City using the Rapid Transport Link (RTL) ferry to continue their journeys from Gan International Airport. However, the disruption created significant challenges for residents of the remote one island atoll.
Concerns remain over the condition of regional airports, many of which have seen deterioration due to limited monitoring. Nine airports that were previously under the Regional Airports Company Limited (RACL) have recently been transferred to the management of Maldives Airports Company Limited (MACL) as part of efforts to strengthen monitoring and improve services.
