ACP Ahmed Mohamed and ACP Mohamed Jamsheed

Two senior police officers dismissed under the previous government have resumed their official duties, following a Civil Court ruling that deemed their removal unlawful.

Assistant Commissioners Mohamed Jamsheed and Ahmed Mohamed were dismissed three years ago while serving in the same rank.

Their removal followed a recommendation from the Police Board, which had also advised the dismissal of several other senior officers.

In December last year, the Civil Court ruled that they should be reinstated; however, the State sought to contest this decision at the High Court. In July, the High Court dismissed the case, and the State chose not to pursue a further appeal, allowing the ruling to take effect.
