Practical work on the new building of the Fulidhoo Health Centre in Vaavu Atoll has commenced, with a groundbreaking ceremony held on Friday as part of President Dr Mohamed Muizzu’s ongoing island tour.
The ceremony was officiated by Minister of Health Nazim Ibrahim and attended by Cabinet ministers, Members of Parliament, Maldives Transport and Contracting Company (MTCC) Managing Director DCP (Retired) Ahmed Saudee, Fulidhoo Council President and members, as well as senior officials.
The project, awarded to MTCC, will see the construction of a 15,650 square-foot health facility equipped with modern infrastructure.
Valued at MVR 27 million, the project is scheduled for completion within 360 days.
Fulidhoo, home to around 521 residents, is expected to greatly benefit from the new facility, which aims to expand access to healthcare and reduce the need for patients to travel to other islands for treatment.
