The Maldives Transport and Contracting Company (MTCC) has signed two major agreements to enhance infrastructure and community facilities in Faafu Feeali, in a ceremony graced by President Dr Mohamed Muizzu.
MTCC Managing Director (Retd.) DCP Ahmed Saudhee formalised the contracts with two ministries. The first agreement, signed with Minister of Construction, Housing and Infrastructure Dr Abdulla Muthalib, covers the Feeali Harbour Development and Jetty Construction Project.
According to MTCC, the harbour works will include dredging and excavation of 34,674 cubic metres, construction of a 301-metre breakwater, a 19-metre revetment, a 40-metre groyne, a 374-metre outer sea wall, and a 20-metre jetty. Valued at MVR 60.17 million, the project is scheduled for completion within 550 days.
The second agreement, signed with Minister of Sports, Fitness and Recreation Abdulla Rafiu, will see MTCC build a new futsal ground on the island. This project involves constructing a concrete playing surface and a boundary fence and is valued at MVR 1.61 million, with a completion period of 120 days.
Both developments are expected to strengthen Feeali’s maritime infrastructure and create improved recreational opportunities for residents, supporting the government’s broader goals for community growth and economic development.
