Visit Maldives Corporation (VMC) has concluded the Futureshapers’ Workshop with discussions on innovation, sustainability, and diversification to strengthen the Maldives’ position as a leading global destination.

The full-day symposium, held at Meerumaa Hall in Malé, brought together policymakers, industry leaders, and stakeholders for sessions on emerging traveller trends, luxury and boating tourism, and guesthouse and atoll development. Market updates were also presented on key source countries, including India, China, Russia, Germany, and the UK.

VMC CEO Ibrahim Shiuree opened the symposium by noting that the insights shared would shape the corporation’s Ocean Nation strategy for 2026. Tourism Minister Thoriq Ibrahim, delivering the keynote address, highlighted the transformation of the tourism sector and emphasised the need to communicate its diversity of experiences to international markets effectively.

Closing the workshop, VMC Chairperson Abdulla Ghiyas Riyaz urged greater investment in tourism marketing, describing it as critical to maintaining the Maldives’ competitive edge. A comprehensive report compiling recommendations from the sessions will be shared with participants in October.
