President Dr Mohamed Muizzu has announced that salary grade thresholds for council employees will be raised from Grade 4 to Grade 1, as part of the Government’s pay harmonisation initiative.
Speaking to residents of Kurendhoo during his ongoing tour of Lhaviyani Atoll, the President reaffirmed that civil service, judicial, and council employees who have not yet received salary adjustments will do so under the pay harmonisation framework from 1 November this year. The implementation date was earlier announced in September.
President Dr Muizzu noted that council employees continue to work tirelessly despite being placed in lower pay grades. He emphasised that his Administration prioritises the decentralisation system and is committed to empowering local councils by ensuring fair compensation.
The President further stated that pay harmonisation for other public institutions will be carried out next year.
