Hanimaadhoo International Airport has been redeveloped as a vibrant showcase of Maldivian culture, history and identity, with its design and interior artwork reflecting traditions from across the archipelago. Passengers arriving at the terminal are greeted with striking 3D installations that depict the beauty of the Maldives’ marine life, historic coral stone mosque architecture, and scenes of island life.

Throughout the arrival hall, visitors encounter murals of reef ecosystems, traditional vessels, and Maldivian lacquer work, each piece celebrating the nation’s heritage. Further displays honour national heroes such as Bodu Thakurufaanu, alongside tributes to the Dhivehi language, Lōmāfānu scripts, and traditional attire. With its carefully curated artwork and cultural references, the airport functions as more than just a transport hub, offering travellers an immersive introduction to the spirit, pride, and traditions of the Maldives.
