Maldives Immigration has officially rolled out a suite of new digital services under the Government’s Maldives 2.0 initiative, introducing technology-driven solutions aimed at modernising immigration processes and improving public access to essential services.

During the event at Nasandhura Palace Hotel, three major digital platforms were introduced: a revamped Maldives Immigration mobile application, a facial-recognition verification tool known as MID Checker, and a new e-visa system.

The mobile application, launched by Immigration Controller General and Commissioner of Police (Rtd) Ahmed Faseeh, is designed to centralise services and enable Maldivians and expatriates to carry out immigration-related tasks more efficiently. The MID Checker application, unveiled by Minister of Homeland Security and Technology Ali Ihusaan, will support the Government’s efforts to address undocumented migrant issues by strengthening identity verification mechanisms through advanced facial-recognition capabilities.

President Dr Mohamed Muizzu officially inaugurated the new e-visa service, a system designed to fully digitise visa applications and eliminate the need for in-person processing. Immigration officials noted that the e-visa platform will significantly reduce waiting times for expatriates and bring greater ease and transparency to visa procedures.

Concluding the ceremony, Maldives Immigration presented a commemorative plaque to President Dr Mohamed Muizzu in recognition of his Administration’s support for digital reforms across the sector.
