President Dr Mohamed Muizzu has inaugurated the new headquarters of the Maldives Correctional Service.
The inauguration ceremony was attended by Minister of Homeland Security and Technology Ali Ihusaan, Commissioner of Prisons Hussain Zareer, senior officials, and staff of the Maldives Correctional Service. Following the inauguration, the President signed the guest book and toured the facilities of the new building.
The new headquarters, constructed on a plot of approximately 12,000 square feet, is a two-storey building equipped with modern facilities to support the administrative and operational functions of the service. It houses several key divisions, including the Office of the Commissioner, Media and Public Relations, Administration, Procurement, Budget and Finance, Offender Service, Information Technology, Rehabilitation and Reintegration Command, Parole Office, Healthcare Service, Legal Service, Uniform Service, Central Security Command, and Transport Service.
Previously, the Maldives Correctional Service operated from rented buildings. The establishment of its own headquarters represents a major step forward in enhancing efficiency, coordination, and overall service delivery within the institution.
