President Dr Mohamed Muizzu has reiterated the Maldives’ steadfast commitment to the Palestinian cause, celebrating the anniversary of the Declaration of Independence of the State of Palestine.
In a message shared on X, the President emphasised that the Maldives will always stand in solidarity with the Palestinian people, underscoring the nation’s long-held support for their right to self-determination and statehood.
Calling on the international community to maintain firm and consistent advocacy, President Dr Muizzu urged global actors to work towards the establishment of a sovereign and independent State of Palestine based on pre-1967 borders, with East Jerusalem as its capital.
He extended greetings and well-wishes to President Mahmoud Abbas, Prime Minister Mohammad Mustafa, the Government of Palestine and its people on this historic occasion, praying that Almighty Allah strengthens their resilience and courage.
The Maldives has remained a strong and vocal defender of the Palestinian people, consistently advocating for their rights on international platforms. President Dr Muizzu has reinforced this stance, noting at the recent “Dhiveheenge Raajje” mega rally that Israelis will not be welcomed in the Maldives while Palestinians continue to face persecution.
Earlier this year, the Government imposed a ban on Israeli passport holders and joined the International Court of Justice case against Israel, decisions widely supported by Maldivians. Through these measures, the Maldives has reaffirmed its long-standing solidarity with Palestine.
