Velana International Airport’s (VIA) newly developed Terminal 1 has begun operations for Austrian Airlines.

A special ceremony was held to mark the airline’s first flight from the new terminal. During the event, Austrian Airlines officially opened its check-in counters and distributed gifts to the 321 passengers travelling on the inaugural departure. The arriving aircraft was welcomed with a traditional water salute, followed by a Maldivian cultural reception for its 321 passengers.

With this inaugural service, Austrian Airlines becomes the 23rd airline to operate from Terminal 1.
