First Lady Sajidha Mohamed has stated that women must familiarise themselves with new technology, embrace business innovation and prepare for emerging political opportunities.

She made the remarks while speaking at the Rehendhi Award ceremony, where she presented Rehendhi Awards for 2024 and 2025 to recipients.

The First Lady said the world has changed significantly from the past and that new skills are essential for women to thrive. She noted that women need to adapt to these changes and expressed her assurance that Maldivian women possess the qualities required.

First Lady Sajidha also emphasised that women are a central force in the progress and revival of any nation and must therefore be treated with full dignity and respect. She noted that mothers, in particular, are the first teachers and the first supporters of every human being, playing a fundamental role in shaping the country’s future.

Speaking about women’s empowerment, the First Lady said Muslim societies should remember the high status Islam grants to women. She stressed that the religion does not tolerate injustice against women, and that women are granted fairness in all matters, including reward for deeds, ownership of property and engagement in business.
