MTCC has announced that the newly developed asphalt section of Boduthakurufaanu Magu will be opened to the public on Monday, as final works are being completed. Phase 1 of the project, covering 838 metres across five segments, is nearing completion, with 140 metres of asphalt work finalised yesterday. According to MTCC Senior Project Manager, installation of traffic signboards and road markings will be completed by tomorrow to ensure the road is ready for reopening.
The project, valued at MVR 144 million, expands Boduthakurufaanu Magu into a four-lane road, easing long-standing traffic congestion in Malé. Phase 2, covering a 250-metre stretch from the local market to North Harbour, will begin next week and includes wall renovations and utility network upgrades by STELCO and MWSC.
