The Ministry of Agriculture and Animal Welfare has announced that 478 farmers have received training over the past two years as part of nationwide efforts to strengthen the agriculture sector. Training programmes were conducted across 28 islands, offering practical skills in hydroponics, greenhouse farming, and other modern cultivation methods, along with technical guidance to improve productivity.

The ministry has also encouraged farmers to add value to their produce by processing fruits and vegetables into items such as juices, jams, and other food products, rather than selling raw harvests. According to the ministry, this approach helps farmers increase their income while reducing losses from crop spoilage and improving overall financial resilience.
