Construction of the new Gaafu Dhaalu Gadhdhoo Hospital has officially begun, following groundbreaking ceremony led by Minister of Health Abdulla Nazim Ibrahim. The event was attended by Gadhdhoo MP Mohamed Ali, MTCC Deputy Managing Director, island council members, and senior institutional officials. The project will develop a 30-bed healthcare block in a two-storey building spanning 18,613 sq. ft, along with a 2,563 sq. ft services block and a two-storey accommodation block covering 3,573 sq. ft. Valued at MVR 101.70 million and scheduled for completion within 600 days, the new hospital aims to significantly enhance healthcare access for Gadhdhoo’s 2,700 residents, who currently rely on a health centre.
