The Minister of Islamic Affairs, Dr Mohamed Shaheem Ali Saeed, announced that all religious initiatives outlined in President Dr Mohamed Muizzu's manifesto are now in progress.

Speaking on MMTV's Bodu Khabaru programme last night, Minister Shaheem said the Ministry of Islamic Affairs commenced implementation of election promises immediately upon the Government's formation.

He emphasised that all manifesto-specified work has begun, noting that 2024 has proved transformative for Islamic affairs in the Maldives.

"I would say that 2024 is a year that, Insha Allah, brought great revival to Islamic affairs in the country, based on the work done within the Ministry," said the Minister.

The Minister also detailed several key achievements, including the implementation of state-funded Hajj pilgrimages for citizens categorised as poor, enhanced mosque renovation programmes, establishment of a Government advisory committee on mosque-related matters, and the creation of a Zakat House.
