Maldives’ first air traffic controller Naeem passes away

The Maldives’ first air traffic controller, Mohamed Naeem Hussain, has passed away at the age of 74.

Maldives Airports Company Limited (MACL) extended its condolences following his passing, describing it as a significant loss to the country’s aviation community. In a statement, MACL said it was deeply saddened to learn of Naeem’s death and noted that he would be remembered with respect and gratitude for his contributions to the development of Maldivian aviation.

Naeem was among the first aviation professionals to begin service when Velana International Airport commenced operations. His role as the country’s first air traffic controller marked a historic milestone in the Maldives’ civil aviation sector.
