President Dr Mohamed Muizzu has established the Maldives National Anti-Doping Agency.

The agency has been formed under the authority granted by Article 116(a) of the Constitution of the Republic of Maldives and in accordance with Section 38(a) of the Maldives Sports Act. The provision allows for the establishment of a national anti-doping body under the administrative oversight of the Ministry of Sports, Fitness and Recreation.

While the Maldives National Anti-Doping Agency will operate under the Ministry’s administrative supervision, it will be governed by an independent board tasked with implementing and enforcing anti-doping measures. The number 1138 has been assigned for official correspondence with the agency.

The establishment of the agency follows the ratification of the First Amendment to the Maldives Sports Act on 19 May 2025 and is aimed at strengthening fair play, integrity and compliance within the Maldives’ sporting sector.
