MTCC is recruiting 407 drivers
Maldives Transport and Contracting Company (MTCC) has said the walk-in interview process for recruiting drivers for the Government’s taxi line service is seeing high turnout.
MTCC will operate the taxi line service under the supervision of the Ministry of Transport and Civil Aviation. The company has announced the recruitment of both full-time and part-time drivers to support the new service.
A total of 407 drivers are required for the taxi line, including 122 part-time drivers and 285 full-time drivers. The company said a large number of interested applicants have been attending the walk-in interviews being held today at the Maafannu Bus Terminal.
The interviews are taking place from 10:00 a.m. to 6:00 p.m.
The Government-operated taxi line is being introduced to address difficulties faced by the public in accessing taxis and to provide a more reliable and convenient transport option. Responding to questions in Parliament last month, Minister of Transport and Civil Aviation Mohamed Ameen said the service is expected to be launched by January.
The taxi line will operate using 100 per cent environmentally friendly electric vehicles. The fleet will include vehicles in three size categories and will provide 24-hour service. The system will also be supported by a dedicated mobile application, similar to international ride-hailing platforms, to facilitate bookings and service management.
