The Ministry of Construction, Housing and Infrastructure has received 518 applications for flats and land in Malé area within the first 24 hours of opening applications under the Government’s Housing for All Policy.
The Ministry officially opened applications for land and flats at a ceremony held on Sunday morning. According to the Ministry, 399 applications were submitted for flats, while 119 applications were submitted for land during the first 24 hours. In addition, 3,836 applications remain in draft form.
The deadline for submitting applications for flats under the Government’s Housing for All Policy is 17 April 2026 at 11:59 p.m. Applications for land under the Family Housing Programme must be submitted by 4 March 2026 at 11:59 p.m.
Revised rules governing the housing schemes have been published in the Government Gazette.
The revised regulations were gazetted on 17 November 2025 following amendments made to the flat and land allocation rules. The revisions were carried out after taking into account concerns raised during public meetings held by Dr Mohamed Muizzu, as well as feedback received by the Ministry after the initial publication of the rules.
Under the land allocation framework, applications are divided into two main categories and several special priority categories. A total of 10,000 plots will be allocated under the Malé residents category, 3,000 plots under the long-term residents category, and 2,000 plots under special priority categories.
