The Ministry of Islamic Affairs has announced that the Huffaz Graduation Ceremony will be held on the 12th night of Ramadan this year, which falls on 1 March.

The incumbent Government introduced a separate national ceremony to honour Huffaz as part of its efforts to encourage Quran memorisation and strengthen Islamic values among the younger generation.

The Government also increased the Huffaz allowance last June to further promote Quran memorisation and help nurture a generation with a strong connection to the Quran.

According to the Ministry, more than 1,500 students are currently engaged in memorising the Quran, the majority of whom are children and young people.

The Minister said that 50 Huffaz are expected to graduate at the upcoming ceremony, compared to 24 Huffaz who completed their memorisation and were formally recognised at the previous ceremony.
