This elite accolade, reserved for the top 1 per cent of TripAdvisor’s 8 million listings, recognizes destinations that consistently deliver exceptional travel experiences. Rankings are based on the quality and volume of traveler reviews over a 12‑month period, highlighting destinations that go “above and beyond” in hospitality and service.

In this year’s global rankings, the Maldives outperformed several major international tourism hubs, placing ahead of Seoul (South Korea), Abu Dhabi (UAE), and Budapest (Hungary). The island nation also secured the title of 3rd Best Honeymoon Destination worldwide, underscoring its reputation as a leading choice for luxury and romance.

The TripAdvisor honor follows a landmark year of international accolades. In 2025, the Maldives won the World Travel Awards’ World’s Leading Destination title for the sixth consecutive year, setting a new global record and reinforcing its leadership in international tourism.

Beyond the World Travel Awards, the Maldives and its resort portfolio have been celebrated by Condé Nast Traveler and recognized with prestigious MICHELIN Key awards, further cementing the nation’s reputation for luxury, experiential travel, and world-class hospitality.
